Longan Biew Kiew

Longan Biew Kiew originates from Thailand and known for being a highly productive, firm, and sweet flesh with little seed (excellent flesh/seed ratio) variety. Longan Biew Kiew is said to be more suitable for subtropical climates than other cultivars. These one year old longan seedlings may not grow true to type, however they generally retain some of the parent tree characteristics.

You will receive a plant at least the same size as the example pictured. Because there are grown outside, your longan tree may have minor cosmetic imperfections (mild tip burn, odd insect bite etc). Grown in PB6 bags.

Longan Biew Kiew is suited to growing in most of the North Island in the ground or elsewhere in a container, provided it is frost-free and well-draining. Longans are less tropical than their lychee cousin and fruit more readily in New Zealand. There are various established fruiting trees growing in the North Island. Do note that it can take 6+ years on average for seedling trees to fruit, but they are worth the wait and highly ornamental as well.
